A crippled man asks for spare change at the temple gate, and Peter answers with a sentence that still confronts us: “Silver and gold I do not have… but what I do have I give you.” From Acts chapter 3, Pastor Carl walks us through the Beautiful Gate miracle in Jerusalem and shows why this moment is more than an inspiring story. It’s a public, undeniable sign that points to Jesus, not to the spiritual “greatness” of Peter and John.

We trace the scene, the meaning behind the name “Beautiful,” and the instant the man’s feet and ankles receive strength as Peter lifts him up. Then we follow the crowd’s shock into Solomon’s Porch, where Peter refuses the spotlight and preaches the gospel with clarity: Jesus is the Servant, the Prince of Life, crucified and raised, and the power at work is the Holy Spirit moving through faith in Jesus’ name.

Along the way, we talk honestly about faith, spiritual gifts, and the pressure many Christians feel to force outcomes. This message draws a sharp line between acting because God truly speaks and acting because we want to prove something, and it brings us back to the questions that keep us grounded: Where is God working? What is God doing? What is God telling us to do? Peter’s call to repent lands as an invitation to forgiveness, renewal, and “times of refreshing” from the presence of the Lord.
