Ananias and Sapphira didn’t get confronted for giving “too little” they got confronted for pretending. That single detail flips how many of us think about church giving, generosity, and what it means to live for God instead of living for applause.

Pastor Carl walks through Acts 4–5 and contrasts two postures: Barnabas’s open-handed surrender and a couple’s carefully managed image. We talk about tithing as an acknowledgement that everything we have belongs to the Lord, and why Christian stewardship is less about percentages and more about ownership. Along the way, we connect the early church after Pentecost to everyday decisions you and I face: comfort vs calling, self-protection vs sacrifice, building our own kingdom vs serving Christ.

The message also brings in key passages that sharpen the heart issue behind every “good deed.” From 2 Corinthians 9 on cheerful giving, to Matthew 6 on charitable deeds done to be seen, to Revelation 3 and the warning to a lukewarm church, the through-line stays clear: God wants honesty, repentance, and real relationship more than religious performance. If you’ve ever wondered why generosity feels tense, why motives get mixed, or how to return to joy and freedom in God’s grace, this is for you.
