A lot of us start with grace and then quietly switch back to earning. We know Jesus saves, but we still wake up feeling like God’s approval rises and falls with our performance. Pastor Carl tackles that head-on from Acts 8, where the gospel confronts both obvious bondage and the subtle trap of trying to “perfect ourselves in the flesh.” We talk about sanctification, what it means to be positionally secure in Christ while still being practically changed day by day, and why bitterness can poison a life when we grab the reins back from Jesus.

The story then pivots to one of the most gripping evangelism moments in the Book of Acts: Philip is sent by an angel and the Holy Spirit away from big crowds to a desert road. There he meets an Ethiopian eunuch, a powerful official who is worshiping, searching, and reading Isaiah but cannot connect the dots. That question hits home for modern life too: we are built to worship, so if we are not worshiping God, we will worship something else, often the quiet idols that live on our phones and in our habits.

Starting with Isaiah 53, Philip preaches Jesus clearly: the innocent Lamb of God, the Son of God who suffers willingly, the cross that pays our sin debt, and the resurrection that offers everlasting life. The eunuch’s response is immediate, personal, and public, confessing faith in Jesus Christ and asking for baptism as obedience, not as a way to earn salvation. If you want a simple, Scripture-rooted reminder of salvation by grace, gospel-centered growth, and how God reaches one person at a time, this message will steady you.
